Mens Cambridge League
Wednesday - 2nd December
v
Bloc Party
Wednesday night saw Newmarket host Cambridges Bloc Party in their first
meet of this years Cambridge league. A strong start from the home side
saw Bloc floundering and stunned after the 25-10 defeat.
The second set saw the home side romp to 15-3 before Bloc called their
first time-out, which resulted in near disaster for Newmarket. As soon
as the two teams came back on court Bloc won the next five points and
continued to string together enough points to force Newmarket to come
from behind but with luck on their side Newmarket closed the set out
27-25.
Still reeling from the previous set Newmarket lost a very closely fought
set which now had really bolstered Blocs ambitions.
The forth set was much more dominated in Newmarkets favour, even a forced
substitution due to injury did not disrupt a much more settled side
and the set and the match was taken by Newmarket who remain undefeated
in this league.
