Newmarket played Peterborough Perkins (Nation) at their home venue on Wednesday 5th November. Newmarket got off to a slow start with some general all round poor performance. Perkins took advantage of this and gradually built a steady lead through the first set winning it 25-19. Newmarket came out in the second set in a better frame of mind with a more convincing performance to win the second set 25-21. Newmarket started the third set well having a 15-8 lead assisted by some good serving from Charles Reed and Nik Mezanov. With some poor service receives to follow this lead was gradually eroded with Perkins levelling the points at 21-21; Newmarket could not rebuild their performance and lost the set 25-23. Newmarket recomposed themselves for the fourth set with some consistent play having only a two point difference through out the set but Perkins put in a good performance to eventually won the set 25-23.
